Accessories are a Game Changer

Paddleboard accessories guide – sunscreen, waterproof speaker, cooler, hat, and swimwear essentials for a day on the water

I went paddleboarding this morning with a group of friends and arrived a little early to make sure I had everything I needed. We were only going out for a short while, but it’s always best to be prepared on the water. Here’s a comprehensive list of everything I believe makes for a perfect morning paddle — in no particular order.

Sun Protection

Before I leave the house and again right before I get on the water, I apply and reapply sunscreen. Even at 7am, the Florida sun is brutal. Sunscreen is non-negotiable. A good hat is equally important — I usually keep a few extras in the car. Browse our Sun Bum collection for SPF that actually smells amazing.

Music and Entertainment

Good conversation is always welcome, but I love having music when I paddle. A waterproof speaker or waterproof headphones is essential. It makes the whole experience feel like your own personal soundtrack.

Hydration and Snacks

Something about being on the water makes me instantly hungry. Snacks and hydrating drinks are a must. A small cooler that straps onto your board is a great investment. Pair it with a water bottle that holds at least 32 ounces and keeps things cold. Some boards even have drink holders that clip right on — cold water on a hot day is everything.

Gear Protection

Did you even go if you didn’t take pictures? Don’t risk dropping your phone in the water. A waterproof phone case and a waterproof bag for your gear are must-haves. Check out our accessories collection for practical picks that hold up on the water.

The Right Swimwear

If you’re paddling in July in Florida, choose your swimwear wisely. Ladies, you want something you can move in freely without worry. Men, go for something breathable and antimicrobial. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look great on the water — functional fashion is real. Shop our swimwear collection for styles built for movement.

Final Thoughts

My list might be a little “extra” — but from years of experience, having these accessories makes for a genuinely great day on the water. May you float ‘til your heart’s content and may the sun shine all the good vibes your way. Add to your accessories arsenal and get out there. 🌊
